Beautifully crafted images can help promote your brand and business by making a stronger visual impact. Look at the below images as an example. If you just shoot an image and use to promote your business, you could be missing a mark in impressing your target customers. Photography in general has lost its value because digital is 'free' in many people's minds, and there is a misconception that anyone with a decent camera can shoot a decent photo and even use it for business promotion. Digital technology has made it easy for many people to get into photography. As a professional, digital photographer, I not only invest in professional equipment, but also invest in software skills to create beautifully crafted images.
Photography is a very complex process. For example, there are a lot of challenges in shooting commercial building exterior, because there are many elements that are out of your control, such as weather and surrounding environment. Take a look at the following 5 images - as you can see, even though the weather was nice on this day, the parking lot was partially wet because of the sprinkler system. I do not always do HDR on architectural images, but I shot 5 bracketed photos to do HDR for this one. I started with Lightroom, then used Aurora HDR 2017 (https://aurorahdr.com) to create the base HDR image, ON1 photo 10.5 (https://www.on1.com) to enhance details, then used Photoshop to clean up wet asphalt, healed small flaws and further enhance and finalize the image.
While it is always best to shoot it right in your camera, it is absolutely necessary for a modern photographer to have the post production skills, not only to fix problems but also to create beautifully crafted images. Because I initially started MINISTRY OF DESIGN as a graphic designer, software skills have always been one of my strengths, and I enjoy the process very much. I am constantly challenging myself to improve efficiency and proficiency as a working professional, so that I can serve my clients better and exceed their needs.
